Printer Maintenance

An Edible Printing System works best when used frequently.

If you are not using it at least twice a week we recommend you print an image out on a regular piece of paper once or twice a week. If you will not be using your system for longer then a week, we suggest you clean the print head and store it and the ink cartridges (with their orange tabs) in sealed bags.

How to run a nozzle check

Before you start printing and anytime you have a printing problem it is best to run a nozzle check.

If you have a stand-alone system you can find the nozzle check by clicking the settings icon on the LCD. Then choose maintenance.

If you have a system connected to your computer you will find the nozzle checkby clicking file, then print, choose printer properties, then choose maintenance.

Follow the directions to determine if there is a clog in the print head. If there is you can click on deep cleaning which you can find on the same page as the nozzle check. This function will push ink through the print head to dislodge any dried ink that may be clogging the print head. After the cleaning run another nozzle check, if there is an improvement try running another cleaning. If there is little or no improvement you may need to use cleaning cartridges or print head cleaning solution.

Keep in mind, print heads will not last as long as your printer system. You may need to replace the print head every 6 to 12 months, depending on how often you use your system. It’s best to always have a spare available.
